Tools for Schools
It’s that time of year again! Beginning Sunday, July 16th River Hills will begin our annual school supply collection. We are partnering again with the Simpson Family Housing program “Tools for Schools” helping provide a new backpack and school supplies for formerly homeless children.
River Hills has set our goal to provide 75 backpacks and supplies to help these children experience a positive start to the new school year. We will receive the names of 75 individual students, their gender, preferences such as favorite color and a list of supplies for his or her grade. On Sunday, July 16th after each service members will have an opportunity to “sponsor” a child and fill a backpack if you so choose.
If you would like to donate school supplies- the backpacks will need the following supplies- NO USED ITEMS PLEASE.
- backpacks- (look for sturdy backpacks that will hold up for the school year)
- wide ruled notebooks
- college ruled notebooks
- wide loose leaf paper
- #2 pencils
- colored pencils
- washable markers
- glue sticks
- packages of blue and black pens
- pencil sharpeners
- 3” wide 3 ring binders
- 3 x 5 index cards
Start watching early for school supply specials. Let’s help provide the tools to help each of these students be successful in school! For further information or an opportunity to volunteer with “Tools for Schools,” please contact Barb Skochil at 612-492-9384 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
