Mission Opportunities
United Methodists believe that each of us is called to participate in the outreaching ministry of Jesus Christ. John Wesley described this in simple, practical terms: “Do all the good you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can.” River Hills has a long history of supporting missions locally, nationally, and globally. Working together in Christ we can make a difference!
Monthly Mission Moment
The Missions Committee promotes mission involvement locally and globally for the whole congregation. Every month or so, they choose a particular area of mission to focus on.
Mission Moment: CATCH Partnership Help
We partner with CATCH (Coalition for Affordable Transitional Community Housing), which provides affordable housing for low-income people in Dakota Co. The church member maintaining that partnership would like to hand it off. Monthly morning meetings are on Zoom. Missions Committee provides the financial support. Pastor Allison, awarren@riverhillsumc.org, can get you connected to the right person.
Mission Moment: LA Fire Assistance
In an effort to offer direct support to those fighting the fires in the Los Angeles area, Missions Committee is asking for contributions to the LA Fire Dept. Foundation and will match the first $500 given. This will support tools and other supplies needed by local firefighters. Give directly here or through the "Contribute" button at the top of this page. For general US disaster relief, UMCOR is always a great option, too.
Upcoming: Feed My Starving Children
We have 25 slots for packing meals at Feed My Starving Children in Eagan on Saturday, Feb. 8, 9:30-11:15am. Kids as young as 5 can come with an adult! Sign up by Feb. 2 here or go to www.fmsc.org/get-involved/volunteer and use code: Y8917Z.
