What to Expect
The Youth Ministry program at River Hills provides students in 6th-12th grade with a safe space to explore and grow in faith, spend time in fellowship, and have a lot of fun in the process. These three F’s (Faith, Fellowship, and Fun) guide everything we do! We spend time together on Wednesday nights during Youth Group, along with monthly special events. Join us for games, service projects, learning, outings, and more as we discover who we are in God’s eyes and what He has created us to do.
For more information, contact our Director of Family Ministries, Seth Horstman. Let him know if you'd like to sign up for the Weekly Family Ministries Update email containing the most up-to-date information.
Wednesday Nights & Youth Group
Youth Group is for students in grades 6-12 and meets in the Youth Room (lower level of the church) Wednesday nights during the school year. Dinner is available at 5:30pm before Youth Group moves to the Youth Room from 6:15pm-7:15pm. Youth Group consists of games, crafts, prayer, going through a lesson, and gathering in a safe space where all students are welcome, no matter the background. Teens and Kids are also welcome to stay with their parents and join our drop-in discussions with Pastor Allison (See Adult Education or Wednesday Events).

Mission Trips
Our summer mission trips offer a chance for students to be God’s hands and feet by serving others. In 2021 and 2022, we held intergenerational Spread the Love Saturdays, serving a variety of local ministries. In 2023, we partnered with SendMe Refuge for a Mission to Mexico! We visited Tapachula, MX and helped deliver food, supplies, and prayer to families in need. Our 2024 summer mission trip was to the Appalachia through ASP (Appalachia Service Project).
You can learn more about past or future trips by emailing Seth (shorstman@riverhillsumc.org)!
Confirmation
Confirmation is a one-year ministry, every other year, offering students a chance to explore what it means to live as a disciple in The United Methodist Church while they decide whether to confirm their faith and claim the promises made on their behalf at baptism. Classes begin in September for students between 7th and 9th grade (and older students who have not yet been confirmed) and conclude with students making their commitments on Confirmation Sunday in April. We have weekly classes on Sunday afternoons in addition to field trips and service opportunities.
Pastor Allison Warren leads our Confirmation ministry; feel free to reach out and get connected!
